Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional member of the hospice interdisciplinary team who provides skilled nursing care to patients in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, the regulations of the State Board of Nursing and the policies and procedures of Doctors Hospice. The Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and documenting care for terminally ill patients from day of admission through day of discharge. Utilizing physicians’ orders and professional skills, and in coordination with the other members of the interdisciplinary team, the Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) implements a hospice plan of care that meets each patient’s specific needs and is in compliance with Federal and State regulations, reimbursement guidelines, as well as the organization’s policies and procedures.


Performs ongoing assessment of patient status.
Adequately assesses and reassesses pain.
Assesses patient’s condition, in collaboration with the Case Manager revises the written plan of care per policy for each patient and ensures care needs are reflected and addressed by the interdisciplinary team.
Provides education to patient/caregiver regarding all facets of care and documents appropriately.
Practices patient care with respect for individual, cultural and spiritual differences.


Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Idaho,

Experience as an Registered Nurse (RN) commensurate with one of the following:

ü One year acute care experience within the last three years;

ü One year home health care experience within the last three years;

ü One year community health or public health experience within the last three years;

ü One year hospice experience within the last three years; or, have a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a program accredited by the National League of Nursing.

ü Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to relate well to staff and other professionals

ü Basic computer knowledge.

ü Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.

ü Current BLS certification.

Provide safe, compassionate care according to patients' individualized plans of care. Care is included, but not limited to: Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, and companionship.  Communicates with the Hospice RN Case Manager regarding services provided and documents patients' response to care in compliance with Doctors Hospice of Idaho and Palliative Care Policy and Procedures at the time the services are provided.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.

CNA Certification for the State of Idaho.

Must be able to navigate a PC to open applications, send e-mails and conduct data entry.

Access to reliable transportation that will enable you to travel to client and/or patient sites within a designated area

CNA experience.
